Double Play
- What it is
- Double Play is an optional Powerball extra in some states with its own second drawing.
- How it is calculated
- For $1 more per play, your numbers also enter a separate drawing held after the main one, with its own top prize. We list the Double Play numbers recorded in the New York data and compare how many numbers they share with the main draw of the same night.
- How to read it
- The shared-numbers table should follow chance, because the two drawings are independent.
- What it can't tell you
- Double Play is not available in every state, and its prizes and odds differ from the main game.
- Common misunderstanding
- 'The Double Play numbers follow the main draw.' They are drawn separately.
