Pairs & Triplets
- What it is
- Which two (or three) numbers were drawn together most often.
- How it is calculated
- For every draw we list all pairs and triplets among the five white balls and count them. The expected count is the number of draws times the chance a specific pair shows up.
- How to read it
- With only a few hundred draws, most pairs appear 0-3 times and the 'leaders' are mostly luck. Compare each count with the expected value.
- What it can't tell you
- Numbers that appeared together before are not more likely to appear together again.
- Common misunderstanding
- 'Some numbers are friends.' Pairs that repeat a few times are what chance produces.
